Hey. I have a question which I would really appreciate some answers to.

When it comes to getting cheap clicks on adwords... how do you do it?

For example say I am bidding on the keyword "lose weight" and to get in the top 3 positions I have to bid 50 cents. Now say that I leave it a week and I have a good quality score and a good ctr which will obviously mean that google would be happy with my ad.

Now do I just leave the bid at 50 cents and it will gradually lower itself to a cheap click i.e 20 cents or lower. Or should I manually lower my max cpc? If I should manually lower it myself how should I go about doing it so that I can stay in the top 3?

Thanks

The reduction in the cost per click will be obtained via a number of ways.

Higher Quality Score
Higher CTR
Reduction in competition for same Keyword
and yes...you reducing your bid.

What most of us do (if U can afford it) is go in on a higher cost per click first...
this sets up a better iniktial stage to get things right ie better ad position, more clicks, higher ctr etc etc

Then after a week or two start to reduce your bid amount by small amounts each day or two.
While doing this keep an eye on the ad position to make sure is does not drop below the position you
would like to maintain.  Some free advice would be that you keep a good eye on your stats
not just the position....because sometimes / often you get better returns in the lower positions than the higher ones.
Top positio n will bring you lots of clicks position 3 to 6 may bring you less clicks but more sales and result in a higher
profit position ok.

Hope the above helps.

Being new to this, I'm probably missing something.  In simplistic terms I would think if my CTR is higher than 'Great' in the Goggles and I'm exceeding that everyday, my CPC would be going down.  Only three days into a campaign I'm seeing my CPC going up and my ad position going down.  The Goggles say 'Great' at a CTR of 0.66%.

These are my stats:
Day 1: CTR  0.98%,    CPC 0.34   avg position 6.6
Day 2: CTR  1.15%,    CPC 0.29   avg position 4.7
Day 3: CTR  11.54%   CPC 0.48  avg position 12.1

Any idea why things are going in this direction?  Will my CTR of 11.54% today likely improve my scores and cost tomorrow?
